Memorial Committee
The Memorial Committee, with the help of the Pastor, promotes giving by SSM members and non-members through the use of printed and spoken announcements along with newsletter articles. Potential needs are identified, and the committee then works to purchase items for the church or to make donations for benevolence both in and outside the congregation. Members and friends who give memorials may either designate specific gifts or donate to the Undesignated Memorial Fund. Envelopes for making donations are in the narthex on the table leading into the sanctuary and on the guest book stand. The Committee meets quarterly and keeps the Special Gifts Brochure updated with suggestions for giving.
SSM Prayer Garden
The Memorial Committee has initiated many projects with the aim of putting to good use the donations given by friends and families in memory of loved ones. One of the most visible is the SSM Prayer Garden. Begun in 2009, this has become a wonderful gathering place for outdoor events at SSM.
