Weekly Announcements

Week of June 30, 2019

July 8th is the date of this year’s Quilting Bee, beginning at 10 a.m. and ending by 4 p.m.  You are invited to join us to sew, layer, bind or tie with the SSM Piecemakers.  No experience is necessary, the various steps are easy to learn.  In addition to the women of SSM, we also have several men who join us, along with a number of our youth – all are welcome.  Come when you can and stay as long as you are able.  A luncheon will be provided.  Please let us know if you will be attending by signing your name on the form posted on the Women of the ELCA portion of the kiosk.  If you will be sharing a salad or dessert, please indicate that on the sign-up form.  Sandwiches and beverages will be provided.  Any questions call Betty Kroll,414-943-4438 or Carole Ropel.

We will begin planning for this year’s Bake and Basket Sale, at the meeting on June 27th at 9:30., in our Fellowship Hall.  Your input is a very important part of this meeting.  If you are unable to attend, please notify Carole Ropel at caroleropel@wi.rr.com or call her at 262-523-4130.

Because of the very generous giving by many good people, a mid-month delivery of food was made to the Bay View Community Center Food Pantry.

Ten solidly packed boxes and bags of food, including about 75 jars of jam/jelly and peanut butter were delivered.  This donation was greatly appreciated.  We have learned that about 50 families and individuals depend on the Bay View Pantry.  These are mostly employed people who don’t earn enough to pay for all their food needs, so our help is needed and appreciated.

Please continue to donate for the remainder of this month and beyond.  THANK YOU!

Our annual School Bag Day will be July 31st this year.  Come join us for sewing, ironing, cutting and much more.  There is something for everyone to do.  We will start at 9 and work through the day so come when you can for as long as you can.  Lunch, fun and a good time will be served.  Don’t forget to keep your eye out for supplies as well:

70-page spiral bound note books (college or regular ruled)

Ball-point pens – black or blue (no gel pens please)

Number 2 pencils – unsharpened

2 ½ inch erasers

Rulers with centimeters (these often will have inches on one side and centimeters on the other)

Pencil sharpeners

Blunt end scissors

Crayons – 16 or 24 (24 preferred so everyone gets the same)

Watch our Facebook page for hints on where supplies were spotted at good prices

Children like summer a whole bunch.  Until they have to make their own lunch.

Help them out, donate peanut butter and jelly. Then they can play with a full belly!

While food donations are greatly appreciated, Bay View Community Center can greatly use money donations to buy the items that they are in need of.
