Candle Box Set-Up: Two or three people are needed to set-up the candle boxes for All Saints Weekend (November 3rd-4th). This does require some lifting.

Flower Coordinator: An individual is needed to organize flower ordering for Christmas.

FOR MORE INFORMATION on any of these volunteer needs, stop by the Music & Worship table in the gathering space throughout the month of September or contact Denise Sanders (the.family.sanders@gmail.com or 414-423-0608).

Today, the St. Stephen the Martyr, Women of the ELCA, are participating in worship as Assisting Ministers, ushers, greeters, readers, and communion assistants.  On display are the Quilts made by the Piece Makers Quilting group, School Bags sewn by the Loose Ends ladies as a project of our Human Concerns Committee and Prayer Shawls made by the Knit Wits knitting group.

You should have received a blue special giving envelope.  Please use it for your Thankoffering and print your name and your SSM envelope number (if you know it) on the reverse side of the envelope.  We ask that you return your gift no later than October 7th.  This once a year offering will be used to help support the various ministries of the Women of the ELCA Churchwide.

Your offering does not go to any one benefit or cause….it becomes part of the annual churchwide budget.  You can help make a difference for women and children in need along with numerous other benevolent purposes and programs of the organization. What a blessing to know we have our own quilts to cover with and that our children have their own school supplies and back packs.  Join us in this expression of gratitude for all we have.  Thank you!

Bonnie Daleness and Carole Ropel, SSM Women of the ELCA

Please join us for a new kind of CROP Walk on Sunday, October 14th. This year, the Greater Milwaukee area CROP Walk is being held “virtually” with individual walks around the Milwaukee area. SSM walkers will join with walkers from St. Luke’s and together we will walk a 2-mile route. We’ll meet at St. Luke’s at 6705 Northway in Greendale at 1:00 p.m. on October 14th.

The walk will end on Broad Street and walkers are invited to celebrate at Ferch’s where 15% of each person’s bill will be donated to CROP. Just pick up a donation form at church and hand it to the cashier at Fech’s.

We will also be collecting food for the Hunger Task Force as usual this year.  For questions or more information, contact Kelly Sachse at (414) 531-9596 or ksachse15@gmail.com. Come join us and help hungry neighbors in our community and around the world!

Beginning October 5th, there will be bins in the Narthex to collect donations of baskets and item to be included in the Theme Baskets. Remember the items must be new and unused.  Please consider donating or creating your own basket.

We will be putting together the Theme Baskets on Thursday, October 19th and Thursday, October 26th at 9 am both days.  Feel free to come and join us.

Our collection of diapers, Onesies, Baby Head to Toe wash, Baby hooded bath towels, and Baby wash cloths and blankets continues through September 30th.  Your gifts will be taken to the October 13th Greater Milwaukee Synod Convention and given to the representatives of the Strong Baby Sanctuary, sponsored by Hepatha Lutheran Church in Milwaukee.

Pam Maschke, Karen Hoffman or Carole Ropel can answer your questions.

In celebration of our Ecumenical ties to each other, the Churches of the “Green Corners” are coming together for a Day of Service to our community.  We will gather together and volunteer with Habitat for Humanity to help those less fortunate in Milwaukee.  Individuals of ALL skill levels are encouraged to sign up. Volunteer coordinators are on site and able to assess your comfort level with a task and assign you to a task accordingly. This day of service is meant to not only be a great service to the community but also a fun day of interaction with our Christian neighbors!
